This area is called

the Barents EuroArctic Region

This northernmost area extends towards the Barents Sea through the northern border of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia. This area is the northernmost point of the European continent and suddenly falls into the sea and disappear. The sudden cold water of the Barents Sea at the end of the European continent clearly confirms the geological processes that have taken place here.

On October 19th, a rainy city in northern Russia met with travelers from Barents World and other regions. The historic city of Arkhangelsk once again shows something to the world, the relationship between the two peoples and their cooperation, which is worth noting for people living in the north. With Russia handing over the chairman of the Barents/European Arctic Council (BEAC) to Sweden, an important event occurred.

Why travel in winter? I traveled back and forth on the Richard With Coastal ferry from Bergen on the West Coast, between December 23 to January 6. Therefore, I affirm that I have a "practical" winter experience. The majestic coastal ferry "MS Richard With" sails across the sea at full speed!

From one harbor along the snowy coast to the next the ship sails slowly through sometimes shallow straits. The captains on these coastal ferries are themselves the sons of the captains who also operated these ships. The large sandbanks below the hull move, and the narrow passage maneuver, maintaining a high degree of vigilance.

But this is another kind of light. After the North Cape, there is nothing between the edge of Europe and the North Pole. The wind is blowing, and the light must follow the natural cycle. Suddenly, you feel like a very small person, "captured" by a huge contact with something much larger than yourself. Watch the nature, do not argue.

Winter travel along the Norwegian coast helps to increase mental awareness and depth, which is a unique opportunity to experience life in gray and weak shades. And cold! Between -12 and -27, the wind does not open. Bring a very thick winter coat!

People from the coastal areas are coming onboard to invite you for coffee. They did it to me! (This is only in winter, the ferry is half empty or half full, depending on your needs.) The food is very delicious, and when you cross the Arctic Circle, you will be baptized in ice water in front of the diners in the spacious dining room. Really cold! After the journey, you will feel "reborn"-and you will never forget the nature that you have just experienced. Because this journey is not an experience of the cognitive part of the brain, nor meant to be an interpretation of Disneyland.
